May the Lord judge between you and me. And may the Lord avenge the wrongs you have done to me, but my hand will not touch you.

1 Samuel 24:12

Wow. Today’s reading reminds us that we shouldn’t take revenge on anyone, including people who hurt us.

What we saw in David and Saul is one of the best examples of how one wants the other killed, but when the latter finally gets an opportunity to harm his killer, he doesn’t. That was David.

In reality, this is easier said than done. When you’re hurt or in danger, your mind can be clouded, and you make bad decisions, including taking revenge on whoever is attacking you.

David takes the high road. David still respects authority. David does not fall to temptation. I want to be like David!
